A Little About Me!
My full name is Richard David Childress, but I go by Rick. I am a freshman at Florida State University as a Business Management major. My interests are cars, sports, fishing, and music. I drive a 2014 Dodge Challenger that I purchased by myself in High School with money I saved up from my part time job. I was also leader of my High School’s Drumline for both my Junior and Senior years. I went to All-State competition for a snare drum solo. I recently joined the Delta Chi fraternity at Florida State University. I have received 3 leadership positions in the fraternity soon.

Course Reflection
When I was looking for an English class, I was looking for a fun, enjoyable class. I stumbled upon a class about Seinfeld it sounded like it had me written all over it. I was right. This class was one of the most interesting classes I have had thus far at Florida State University.
Out of the many things I learned in this course, two key skills stood out that I will take away from this class. These key skills I achieved with this class are time-management and explaining my thoughts in more depth. I was able to manage by time by balancing my extra curricular activities and classes. The best tool for time management was working with better drafts. Working slow and making draft after draft seems to create a better end product than cramming a paper in the night before it is due (as I did in high school). Another skill I took away from this class was thinking more critically when I write. Coming into this class my weakest writing skill was explaining upon my points. I have a hard time translating what is in my head onto paper. In this class I worked on explaining myself further and more in depth. I feel that I have grown as a writer in this aspect.
Past experiences have helped me greatly with this class. Taking ENC1101 last semester was a huge help with this class. They had the exact same schedule and format, just with different literature. I was introduced to working in drafts during that class. High school also helped me prepare for this class by introducing to MLA formatting and other basic writing styles.
This class has helped me prepare for papers I will have to write in the future. The skills I have learned will help me when I have to write long research papers as I progress through my education. The time management skills I have learned from this class are the most valuable to me.
I found that writing in drafts was the most beneficial skill in this class. My papers seem much more thought out and better when I am not in a rush to finish them. My papers in this class I feel are some of the best papers I have ever written. I also enjoyed the viral media segment of the class while working together in groups.
I believe I should receive a B+ for participation. I always felt tat I made a strong effort to be at every class, and come early to be better prepared. I also have turned in all my work on time or early. I feel I struggled slightly in the discussion segment because I am not really the person to openly volunteer to speak in front of the class. Whenever I was called on I would know the answer, but I am always uncomfortable speaking in front of a class. Sometimes I would have a hard time memorizing or understanding the explicit details from the readings. I always read them, but would only truly understand the concepts vs. the minor, non-important details.
